Gilboa Guiness World Record

I would suggest that anyone planning on going to Gilboa this weekend check their website. The attempt has been postponed until next year. Some of us are still going up and we hope to see you there.

Given the bad press they're going to endure over this, I would be shocked if they made another run..the record is north of 1000 divers in the water and last year they had about 600..this year they were tracking below that number. If they were smart, they'd forget the idea of breaking the record and just offer people $50 in free diving or just refund everyone's money.

That is true about the bad press. But, Mike is a good guy and his heart is definitely in the right place when it concerns divers. He wants to do something for Midwest divers and he doesn't sit around and talk about how things should be done, he attempts them. If you do not think it is a doable event, maybe you should just stay home and let the rest of us participate instead of bad mouthing someone you don't know or doing something you never have tried.

I am sure that Mike will take care of all those that had registered. He has always done his best to please us as much as possible. He has at least met me half way on many situations.
As for the record...I didn't think that they will break it.

Some of us went up to Gilboa this weekend and got in some great diving. We also had an impromptu meeting. We discussed next year and how things can be improved. I think we all will appreciate the efforts that will go into the 2011 event.

I was shocked how pleasant the meeting went. But glad to see that people gathered together to come up with some great ideas for next year. As long as it fits into my summer schedule I plan to register again for it again next year!!
Time will tell if a record will be broke or not...but if nothing else... it's a great place to dive!
